The Spindrift Guest House
The Spindrift Guest House - Environmental Policy
Over 15 years
The Spindrift has continually developed best practice to establish eco-tourism.
The following has taken place over the years: -
Radiator thermostats have been installed in all bedrooms, public areas and offices so that individual room temperatures can be controlled separately.
All bedrooms benefit from sash & cash double glazing to improve heat retention.
Dimmer switches are in operation in public areas.
All external lights have timers or movement sensors
Small capacity kettles are in all guest bedrooms to reduce the amount of water being heated.
The Guest House promotes an option for guests to reduce the frequency of having their towels changed on a daily basis, by employing towel cards in the bedrooms.
When purchasing new equipment we identify low energy appliances
Times are installed for lighting and heating systems to prevent energy being used unnecessarily.
Low flow shower heads are fitted in all bathrooms to reduce the volume of water used
All cisterns are fitted with dual flush
Where possible, The Spindrift tries to purchase from local suppliers, therefore reducing the transport costs.
Older equipment is given to local charity shop in Anstruther
Re-cycling of glass, paper, cardboard and plastic is in operation
Food & garden waste is collected separately.
Strictly a non-smoking establishment
